The majority of people have curly hair, but don’t know it. If you have frizz, you likely have curly hair. Curls need to be treated right in order for them to come through. Mistreated curls are often times mistaken as simply just frizz.
If you want your frizz to change into curls, nourish them with the correct, moisturising products.

Genes play the biggest role in curly hair.
Recent research points to trichohyalin, a protein in hair follicles, as having influence over hair curl.
When looking at curls under a microscope, the shafts are jagged.
Curls also grow out from the roots on an angle.
How to achieve perfect curls every time:
- Shampoo and condition with natural, silicone and sulfate free curly products.
- Only brush curls when soaking wet.
- Apply a leave in conditioner.
- Apply a curl cream.
- Scrunch in a gel.
- Let air dry or diffuse.
- Sleep with a bonnet to maintain curl shape.
Curly hair strands cluster together and wind around themselves in a spiral or looser curl shape. This texture needs plenty of moisture to help with a defined pattern. Curls can either form shapes of: Z, tight S or C.
Wavy hair is when strands curve or form a looser “S” shape. Waves can differ greatly in shape and it is common for wavy girls to experience several different textures in their hair.
Straight is when strands go straight up and down.
Curls tend to be naturally dry.
Due to their spiraled shape, it’s harder for the natural oils to be produced from your scalp to travel down and coat the strands, which is why they can get so frizzy.
Curl shafts are naturally jagged and dry out much quicker, also causing frizz.
To reduce frizz: keep your curls moisturised, don’t brush curls dry, wear a bonnet at night and refresh your curls each morning.
The basis of the Curly Girl Method (CGM) is to reduce or cut-out shampoo, heat, sulfates and silicones. The Curly Girl Method provides great guidelines for curly hair, but curls can also thrive simply by using natural products formulated for curls.
