When styling, it’s important to have a goal in mind. If you are after ultimate volume, this article is for you! Keep in mind that achieving ultimate volume does require compromising on some definition and will increase frizz.
Stick to one product
Don’t overload your hair with lots of products. Instead, choose a lightweight product that doesn’t weigh your hair down and stick with that one.
Scrunch and shake
While you hair is wet, keep scrunching it. Tilt your head upside and scrunch upward. Flip your head to the left and scrunch, making sure to get up to the roots. Flip your hair to the right and once again, scrunch. Repeat this process at every stage of styling. Before adding product, do this routine. Do it again after putting product. If you diffuse, alternate your diffuser in these positions as well. Remember to scrunch all the way up to your roots.ย Once your hair is dry, shake it out from same angles.
Brush the roots
Once your hair is completely dry (it’s very important that your hair is 100% dry), brushing the roots will give you a massive volume boost. This will add frizz though, so only do this if you don’t mind the extra fluff.
I love to brush in an upward motion at the crown of my head. This adds lots of volume from the back. For the front/sides, I flip my hair to one side and give it a little tug with the brush. I place the brush against my roots and shake it a little. I flip my hair again and repeat the same step on the other side. This makes a big difference and is especially great if you hair has become a little limp from sleeping on it.
NOTE: Being gentle is the key, give it a little tug and don’t do anything too severe. If you’re too rough, it’s not good for the strength of your hair.
