This post is not about how to transition or tips to regenerate your hair, instead, I'll be giving you practical solutions to make your transition easier and stop you from giving up.

1. Clip-in ponytails

Bad hair days are a part of having curly hair. When you're in transition, the reality is you'll have more bad hair days than good ones. Having a clip-in ponytail will help you get through those bad days. To put it on, tie your natural hair into a tight bun and simply wrap the ponytail around your bun. It'll completely cover your natural hair. Having a bun underneath the ponytail actually adds a little lift, so it looks really nice. This will allow you to feel confident even on bad hair days.

2. Braids

Braiding your hair might seem daunting, but it really is a lifesaver. It doesn't have to be perfect to look good. I normally do between two to six tight French braids at the roots and combine them into a single braid at the back. If I'm feeling lazy, I'll tie my hair into a ponytail and do a single braid. I recommend always braiding on wet hair. Working with dry curls is a nightmare and very painful. Braiding on wet hair will also help to create a sharper look and reduce flyaways.

3. Curlers

Don't get me wrong, I am in no way advocating for using heat on your hair. In saying this, occasionally curling my hair definitely helped me throughout my transition. I only ever went over 4 curls at the most, so the heat was not on much of my hair. I remember having a job interview only 2 months into my transition, I selected 4 curls that were very noticeable (and frizzy) and went over them with my curler. It was a very rare occasion for me to do this, but it helped remove temptation to give up. If you have something important coming up and really need an extra boost, this could be a good solution for you.
