One of the coolest things about having curly hair is that the hairstyles are limitless. It takes very little effort to wow. On top of all that, there are some hairstyles that only work on curly hair. Hairstyles can so easily be fun!
Although sleek and tight hairstyles look amazing, you're locked into washing your hair the next day because those hairstyles pull at the roots. Pulling at the roots can result in less volume, flat roots and curl definition being stretched out and loose.
A great example is the picture I attached to this article above. I did a high, messy bun with laid edges. It wasn't even that constrictive, but it was enough pull to cost me definition and volume.
I worked out that high buns in general aren't very good for my thick, heavy and long hair. It causes too much strain for the roots and leaves me with limp and stretched curls.
It took me a while to work out what hairstyles will preserve my hard work put in on washday, but I'm so glad I did because now my hair looks fresher, more defined and with more volume for much longer than it used to.
