Celebrating Curls, Community, and Culture: CurlyConLA 2025
On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Downtown Los Angeles transformed into a CURLY HEAVEN for the natural hair community as CurlyConLA returned for its second annual celebration.
Held at Rolling Greens DTLA, the event brought together curl enthusiasts, beauty brands, and industry experts to honour the diversity and beauty of natural hair textures.
I was so excited about it – that I flew all the way from Gold Coast, Australia to Los Angeles, USA! With no time to catch up on sleep; I put my claw clip on, laid my edges and went off the event!
A Day of Empowerment and Education
CurlyConLA 2025 featured an awesome lineup of expert-led panels and discussions aimed at educating and empowering attendees.
Topics included “Damaged to Defined,” focusing on transitioning to healthy curls, and “Raising Curly Kids: Hair, Identity, & Empowerment,” exploring the intersection of hair and cultural identity. Additional panels like “Decoding Curl Chemistry” and “The Beauty of Type 4 Hair: Myths, Care & Confidence” provided in-depth insights into textured hair care.
My favourite was Rizos Curls booth – they had EVERYTHING stacked up beautifully and they had the funnest spin-the-wheel!
Influencers and experts
So many curly icons were there! Including Julissa Prado, Rizos Curls founder, Bianca Renee and Persia Bella! These curly icons shared their knowledge through panel talks and live demonstrations. It was such an honour to be able to learn from them! The best part is that all of these girls are the SAME in person as they are online! They truly are so genuine and such beautiful people.
Showbags and extra goodies
Stands were generously giving out samples and travel size products and momentos. CurlyConLA gave out showbags based on whichever ticket you purchased. The showbags for all the tickets were generously filled! Cheaper tickets got travel sizes and more expensive tickets got full sizes. These showbags ended up being a lifesaver because I accidentally forgot my holy grail Pretty Curly Girl Magical Flaxseed Gel at the hotel!
What this means for our Australian curlies!
I truly mean it when I say everything I do is for you! I learnt SO much that I will be sharing with you through blogposts, Instagram posts and more. There are also some huge projects in the works that I’ll be dropping over the next few months. Trust me – there’s always so much going on behind the scenes that we’re working on for YOU!
Would I go to CurlyConLA again?
Absolutely yes! It was the perfect balance – fun, empowering and educational. Although it was super exhausting to get there, I would definitely go again since I know it means I will be able to continually bring back more for Australian curlies.
Would I recommend for you to go?
Honestly, it is so far away, so if you are wanting to go, I would recommend tying it in with other events and visiting more of USA to make it worth the hassle. CurlyConLA is a one-day event, so it would be best to find some other activities to extend your time in USA.
Why I went to CurlyConLA
I believe Australia deserves the best. I am so grateful towards this beautiful country and that families like mine could make a life for themselves in beautiful Australia.
Australia often times gets overlooked and can be behind on the latest trends and innovations.
I don’t want us to miss out and I don’t want us to have to settle. That’s one of the many reasons why I work hard to bring us the best, highest quality and the newest in curly hair care.
I learnt so much from this trip & I am always pushing myself to learn more. Lots of videos, recaps and fun is on our Instagram, so go check it out! ✨
& over the next few months, much more to come 😉 there is always so much going on behind the scenes, so realistically you won’t get to benefit from what I’ve learnt for a good few weeks/months, so for now you can just enjoy the fun, exciting content 💞
