If you’ve been swimming lately, forgot to warp your hair at night or recently taken out a protective hairstyle, you’re probably dreading detangling your hair! I go swimming a lot, so I have to deal with this at least once a week. Below are the hacks I learned to ensure pain-free detangling.
From leave-in to a spray
I love putting some leave-in conditioner into a spray bottle, filling it with water and then shaking it. This allows you to spray your leave-in consistently thought your hair. For more uses on DIY leave-in sprays, see my article on Turning Leave-In Conditioner Into a Spray.
Wet hair
It goes without saying, but only detangle in the shower! Once you’ve sprayed your hair, jump in the shower and soak your hair. When you’re detangling, make sure to regularly rewet your hair to maximise slip.
Condition first, then shampoo
Once your hair is soaked, lightly rub conditioner on your hair. Now you’re ready to start detangling! Remember to keep on rewetting your hair since this will make a big difference and help your brush to slide seamlessly.
