Deep conditioning is the key to healthy curls. Textured hair dries out fast, which is why it benefits greatly from the extra help that deep conditioning offers.
It can be hard to find time to leave a treatment in your hair for 30 minutes. It is very easy to neglect this step. Whenever I skip using treatments, I notice a massive difference in my curls. It took a while to find a routine that works well for me, but once I did, I found myself skipping treatments much less.
Here are my habits that help make deep conditioning easier for my busy lifestyle:
- Generally, I deep condition (or protein treatment) every second wash day
- I do it in the morning that way my hair has all day to dry
- I tie my hair in a bun to ensure it doesn’t go in my face or leave residue on my clothes
- If I’m short on time, I skip styling all together. I’ll just rely on the results of the treatment
- After rinsing it out, I scrunch my hair with a micro fiber towel so that it doesn’t drip
