Body perfume sprayed into curls is mostly alcohol and it dries the strand out. A hair perfume is formulated lighter and carries a UV filter, so you get the scent and a little protection instead. Tula Rose is a rose and bergamot blend. It refreshes second and third day hair and neutralises the smells hair picks up, from cooking to smoke to the gym.

What makes it different

• It carries a UV filter. Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane and ethylhexyl salicylate are in the formula, which is not something a body fragrance gives you.
• It buys you another day between washes. Curls do not need washing as often as they smell like they do, and a hair perfume is the cheapest way to stretch a wash day out.
• It goes over a finished style. There is nothing in it that will disturb a cast or flatten definition, so you can use it on day three hair without restyling.

Worth knowing before you buy: denatured alcohol is the first ingredient, which is what makes any perfume spray and dry quickly. Hold the bottle well back, keep it off your scalp and off your ends, and do not use it as a daily refresher on already dry hair. It is a scent product, not a treatment.
