Most hair oils do one thing. This does most of what you need an oil for, which is why it tends to replace three or four bottles on the shelf.

Eleven oils go into it. Jamaican black castor for strength and thickness, rosemary for growth, tea tree to calm an itchy or irritated scalp, and jojoba, argan and avocado to soften and seal.

For the best results, follow these simple steps:

1. Section your hair into four so you can reach the scalp easily.
2. Use the twist nozzle to apply the oil directly to your scalp, working section by section.
3. Massage it in with your fingertips or a scalp massager for a few minutes.
4. Work whatever is left through the lengths and ends.
5. Repeat two to three times a week, ideally before you shower.
6. Protect your hair with a satin bonnet overnight.

Other ways to use it:

• Hot oil treatment: apply generously from root to ends, cover with a shower cap and use a thermal heat cap for 30 minutes.
• Deep conditioning: mix a little into your deep conditioner, or apply under a heat cap for 30 minutes before washing.
• Pre-wash or pre-poo: split hair into four sections and let the oil soak into the roots before you shampoo.
• Detangling: work it through knots with your fingers before you comb.
• Scrunching out the crunch: once your gel has dried, warm a few drops in your palms and scrunch to soften the cast.
