We all have our favourite curly hair products. It’s great to have favourites! But you need to consider a few things when using your favourite products together on the same washday.
If you are wondering why your go-to products stopped working, you might be making the mistake of using them with incorrect methods and other products that don’t blend well.
One of the biggest mistakes
A huge mistake often made is not styling for a goal. If you want to achieve a goal when styling your hair, you need to incorporate practises and products that will help you achieve that goal.
Imagine this…
For example, you might want to achieve extreme volume, so you use your favourite lightweight styling cream and defining gel. You have combined your favourite two products but for some reason you can’t get volume. Your gel gives extreme definition and hold – which is why you love it! But this ends up weighing your hair down and reduces how much volume you could achieve.
Although your favourite gel gives you great results, it won’t help you achieve volume because it was designed for achieving other goals (like hold and definition).
A better idea is to swap the gel out for a volumizing foam/mousse since these are designed to offer volume. They are also extremely lightweight. Using a lightweight cream combined with a foam is a great way to achieve volume.
When it’s okay to use your favourites together
If you don’t have a goal or purpose and don’t really mind how your hair turns out, then definitely use your favourites together.
Or, if your favourite products happen to compliment each other and work toward the same goal, then you could also use them together.
Final thoughts
I don’t want you to feel discouraged because you can’t achieve your hair goals. Think of your hair as going to the gym. Maybe you want amazing biceps, but doing squats won’t help you achieve that goal. The same goes for hair. There are so many beautiful products designed for different purposes. Ensure to use products that both work toward the same goal in order to have best results.
