During transition, it’s not uncommon for curls to come out looking stretched, loose and inconsistent. This is completely normal due to the damage that your strands are in the process of recovering from.
If you’re out of transition and you’re still dealing with inconsistent and stretched out curls, here are some reasons why this could be happening:
1 – Too much product
Using too much product can easily jeopardise results. If you are making this mistake, you’ll also feel a bit of oiliness or greasiness.
2 – Wrong product
It’s easy to fall into the trap of using a product that works well for someone else, but not for you. It takes trial and error to work out what types of products, textures and ingredients your hair likes and dislikes.

3 – No sleep bonnet
Sleep bonnets are extremely effective in making sure curls stay defined. Making sure to wear a sleep bonnet will leave you with more consistently shaped curls, tighter curls and better preserved results.
