Curly hair extensions is something many curlies don't know exists. Realistically, it's because this service is hardly ever offered! K-tips have become a massive confidence boost for straight haired girls, but the curly world has sadly been missing out...until now! Join one of our salon regulars Bianca on her k-tip journey so you can see if it's for you!
Bianca's Journey: How Custom K-Tip Extensions Gave Her the Hair She'd Waited 3 Years For
(real name altered for privacy)
Some guests come to us wanting a touch up. Others for something dramatic. Bianca came to us after three years of waiting for her hair to simply become something it wasn't.
See her inspo vs reality here! Dare we say the reality was WAY better than the inspo!
The Problem: Hair That Wouldn't Grow
Bianca had short, neck-length curls, fine, very low density, and see-through no matter how she styled it. She wanted what so many of our curly clients dream of: thick, luscious, long curls with real movement and presence.
For three years, she tried everything. Growth treatments, scalp massages, patience. And her hair simply stayed exactly where it was: short, fine, and thin. Some hair just isn't built to get there on its own, no matter how well it's cared for. That's not a failure on Bianca's part, it's just genetics, and it's incredibly common among curly clients with fine, low-density hair.
That's when Bianca came to us to talk about K-tip extensions.
The Consultation: Getting It Right Before We Even Start
Before anything is ordered or crafted, every K-tip client goes through a full consultation with us. This is where we assess natural curl pattern, density, porosity, and hair health, and talk honestly about what's achievable.
For Bianca, this meant designing extensions completely custom to her, not off-the-shelf strands in a generic curl type, but hair crafted specifically to match her natural curl pattern, her exact color, and critically, a density that would blend seamlessly with what she already had. The goal was never to give her hair that looked like extensions. The goal was to give her the hair she'd always fantasied about.
The Wait
Bianca's custom K-tip extensions took about a week to source. This isn't a same-day, off-the-shelf service, and that's intentional. Every set is built to order, matched precisely to the client it's made for.
Her extensions are Slavic, single donor, virgin and ethically sourced. The curl pattern is completely natural and blended perfect with hers.
Install Day
When Bianca's extensions arrived, the colour match was seamless and the curl pattern matched hers so flawlessly you couldn't find the line between her natural hair and the extension. The density was calibrated carefully, enough to give her the fullness she'd wanted for years, without overloading her natural, fine strands or putting unnecessary stress on her scalp.
This balance matters more than people realise. It's tempting to go bigger, thicker and more dramatic right away. But when the goal is healthy, long-term hair, the density has to work with what's naturally there, not against it.
We gave her a detox shampoo and conditioner from her range to use as her wash before installing. It is important for the hair to be clean, product free and buildup free for the install. This ensures longer lasting results.
Why We Don't Rush the Process
K-tip extensions with us are a considered, unhurried process, from consultation, to custom crafting, to a careful, precise install. This isn't a quick add-on service. It's a luxury investment in your hair, and we treat it that way at every step.
The reason we take our time is simple: your natural hair needs to be able to grow and thrive underneath the extensions, not be compromised by them. Rushed, poorly matched, or overly dense extensions are one of the most common causes of damage, breakage, and disappointment with this service elsewhere. We'd rather get it right than get it fast.
(Even her extensions pre-curly cut and style looked AMAZING!)
Ongoing Care: Built Into the Service
K-tip extensions aren't a "set and forget" style. Every three months, clients like Bianca come back to us for a reinstall. This keeps the extensions sitting correctly as natural hair grows, and gives us a chance to check in on scalp and hair health along the way.
We also have put together a collection of k-tip friendly curly hair products. This simplifies your aftercare by a lot and avoids the annoying, endless reading of ingredient labels.
Every K-tip client also receives:
- A free 6-week checkup, so we can make sure everything is settling well and address anything early
- An aftercare kit valued at over $120, with everything needed to protect both the extensions and your natural hair underneath
How maintenance works
First, you'll need to get them removed. We charge a per-hour fee for this service. We highly recommend then going for a Detox+Hydration Treatment to give your curls some love. We can then either re-bond your current extensions or order a new set. Re-bonding is a labour intensive task, so sometimes it is more cost effective to order a new set. We will work out whichever is best value for you and let you know :)

The Result
Bianca finally has the thick, long, luscious curls she pictured for three years, without compromising the health of her natural hair underneath. And with reinstalls every three months, that result isn't a one-time moment. It's something she gets to keep.
If you've been waiting for hair that just won't grow the way you want it to, K-tip extensions might be worth a conversation. Book a consultation with us on the Gold Coast, and let's talk about what's possible for your curls.
