The biggest differences
First up, the new Water comes in a fragrance free version as well as their signature scent. Although their signature scent is super glam, it can be a bit much for sensitive curlies. Their new Water also has a travel size option (like the rest of the Tootilab range does) which is a great way to trial and compare it against their current All Weather Gel.
Of course, the Water is a whole new texture. Previously, fine hair curlies had been overlooked in the curl community because most strong hold gels were super thick and weighed hair down. For naturally big and frizzy hair, this can work well but it can be a disaster on finer hair that is easily weighed down and needs weightless stylers to prevent this.
This is where Tootilab's Strong Hold Styling Water comes in. It glides into thick dense hair as effortlessly as it does fine, low density hair and helps to sculpt and define curls on either end of the curl chart.
Two different ways to use it
For extra definition: use with LOTS of water Make sure your hair is DRENCHED and dripping. Apply the gel throughout your hair and then lightly brush it (with any brush). Once dry, separate clumps.
For extra volume: remove some water out of your hair first. Don't towel dry, just use your hands so that you aren't dripping wet. Then rake + scrunch the Styling Water in.
How to pair
You can pair either of them with Tootilab's full range or use them solo. There is no need to use both the Gel and Water at the same time though.
